FALL 2013

Fall is approaching.  Only three more weeks for Summer.  Time to start thinking about protecting those new plants that you placed in your garden.  To prepare the plants for winter: water well, mulch and wrap in burlap around the end of November (if you live in the Northeast)  to protect from snow and wind.   I just priced burlap and the best price I found was on Amazon.com.

Time to decorate  for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Below is a cute candle idea that the kiddies can help you with.  So easy.
Orange, brown and white rice under the tea candle.
All you need is food coloring, vase, white rice, and a tea candle.
Put some rice in a small bowl and add about 5 drops food coloring each (red, blue and yellow for brown and red and yellow for orange)(if you want black for Halloween just mix less yellow when mixing for brown).  Fill small glass vase as shown and sink the Tea Light into the top of the rice.  I saw this on "The Girlfriend" on Facebook for fourth of July with the red white and blue rice.  My grands loved putting the rice in the glass vases and adding the candle. ( I dyed the rice earlier, didn't want little hands touching the dye).  So simple and they loved when we lit the candles that night.

The lazy decorator....that's me ...ok, I'm being harsh on myself.  I should call myself the instant decorator.  Anyway, below is an easy curtain fix that is instant.

Here is my bathroom curtain. Also note the matching towel.  I found these curtains at TJ Maxx. They were selling as kitchen towels, a set of 4, and on sale at less than $5.00.  I had a spring tension rod and bought gold curtain clips and in an instance I not only had a cute little curtain but also two tea towels  to hang on my cute little wrought iron hanger that I purchased for about $6.00 at Hobby Lobby. I get many compliments on this curtain.  One last tip...to wash the curtain I throw the whole works in the washer...curtain and clips and they come out fine.  It saves my fingers because those clips are very hard to place on the curtain.

I found an article for small business owners that shows them what the most successful business people do to start their day. It is an article that is a couple years old but worth checking it out.
What successful people do the first hour of their day.

Well, it's getting chilly. See you soon and check out my newsletters on OTS below.
